5.5 mi. SW of Salt Island, on N coast of Atka I., Aleutian Islands.
History
Descriptive name which was published by the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) in the 1944 Aleutian Coast Pilot (p. 96), was given "because a low valley between the head land and the main shore gave it the appearance of an island to ships approaching from the west."
