Description
Sviechnikof Harbor is located on S coast of Atka I., Aleutian Islands.
History
Surveyed and probably named by pilot Ivan Chernof in 1832, and published as Svetchnikoff Port by Captain Lutke (1836, p.308), Imperial Russian Navy (IRN). It may be a family name, or from "sviechnik", Russian for "tallow chandler."
