History

This feature was called "Z(aliv) Nazan," or "Nazan Bay" by Captain Tebenkov (1852, map 28) Imperial Russian Navy (IRN). The name was changed to Chisak Bay (named after Cape Chisak) by the U.S. Navy Hydrographic Office in 1936, because "there are other more important Nazan Bays in the Aleutian Islands."
