Alimuda Bay is located on NW coast of Unalaska I., Aleutian Islands. 1.6 miles wide.

History

Aleut name; reported in 1792 as Zaliv Alimuda or Alimuda Bay, by Lieutenant Sarichev (1826, map 14), Imperial Russian Navy (IRN). According to R. H. Geoghegan the name comes from the Aleut words alim and uddha meaning old man's bay. Called Srednaya meaning middle by Father Veniaminov (1840, v. 1, p. 166); named Middle Bay by the U.S. Bureau of Fisheries (USBF) in 1888.
