Description
Staraya Artil Rookery is located near First Bluff, on N coast of St. George Island, in Pribilof Islands.
History
This seal rookery, called "Starry Ateel," by Elliott (1881, p.59), has 500 ft. of sea-margin. The Aleut name, according to Putnam, (1903, p.1015), U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey, is Tanogtuck'an-algaral'ogray (Tanagtak'an-algarel'ogre) meaning "old village rookery."
